Job Summary
Purpose:The Floating Technologist is required to plan, perform and co-ordinate services rendered to various departments to ensure continuity of processes within the production facility. These departments are fermentation, virology, cell culture, quality control, freeze-dried products, Multimin and formulation
Key Accountabilities:
- Achieve 100% competency of relevant procedures performed for serviceable divisions.
- Collaborate in identifying and monitoring issues impacting the timely manufacturing of various products within the Floating Technologist’s profile.
- Ensure all processes related to manufacturing is in compliance with SOP’s and according to
- ISO9001 and GMP requirements.
- Performing in-process problem solving and refining of existing procedures within divisions to optimize the manufacturing and ensure cost efficiency.
- Capturing production data on production data sheets and other relevant information as required.
- Improve laboratory efficiency.
- Maintain monitoring system to allow effective control of processes.
- Ensure adherence to departmental turnaround times and early warning to direct Team Leader and / or affected business units of any delay on TAT.
- Assist the relevant technologist to ensure adequate function by performing routine maintenance and proactively correct/ repair faulty equipment.
- Maintaining IMPTE’s (thermometers, weights, balances, pipettes within scope of operation) in the absence of the relevant technologist within the scope of operations and serviceable divisions within the production facility.
- Conducting all general work practices in accordance with OHS and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
National diploma in veterinary technology, biotechnology, food safety, analytical chemistry or BSC
degree.
Experience:
1 to 2 years laboratory/production environment experience.

- High motivation to learn all disciplines in our business
- Ability to communicate effectively with good written and verbal skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office 365
- Must be willing to work flexible and long hours on short notice when required.
- Must be willing to work in sometimes uncomfortable conditions such as extreme heat and moisture.
