National plastics manufacturer in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs is looking for a suitably experienced Engineer who meets the following criteria: - Must be in possession of an Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering degree - Be prepared to travel for customer meetings and trials - Have experience in a plastics production environment (but would consider FMCG experience) - Experience in a supervisory or management role - Have a strong ability to communicate on all levels and across departments - Be able to manage discipline - Have a methodical approach to issues - Strong leadership ability and potential - Be highly motivated and have an ability to motivate others - Self-disciplined, enthusiastic and a strong team player - Be reliable (proven track record) - Passionate about excellent service - Computer literate (MS Office, SAP, SHEQsys, Kronos) - Understanding of machine utilization and reliability and availability - Understanding of safety legislation Responsibilities: - Achieving production efficiencies of at least 80% - Working closely with design department on product development - Managing raw material, packaging and finished goods stock (SAP) - Ensuring effective maintenance and servicing of machinery and moulds - Implementing measurable technical and process development improvements - Ensuring customer satisfaction - Visiting of customers, including visits to the regions - Ensuring all internal customer satisfaction - Implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 quality system & ISO 22000 food safety system - Achieving efficiencies and quality manufacturing requirements - Developing a budget for production in conjunction with the Operations Manager and Divisional Executive - Managing budget i.t.o. labour, materials, maintenance/repairs and packaging - Recruiting and selecting employees - Managing individual and team performance - Managing workplace climate and motivating employees - Ensuring a safe working environment - Ensuring proper housekeeping Opportunity to grow into Plant Manager role.
